Workshop Chair

  • Shili Ge, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, China, geshili@gdufs.edu.cn
  • Shili Ge is a professor in applied linguistics, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). He received his MA from Dalian Maritime University and PhD from Beijing Language and Culture University. His research interests include artificial intelligence in language learning and testing, automated translation quality assessment, and language comparative study for NLP. Before joining GDUFS, he was a professor at the School of Foreign Languages of South China University of Technology (SCUT). He has been teaching English, Statistics, Research Method, Introduction to Language Service, Web Localization and Computer Aided Translation to undergraduate and graduate students in the two universities for more than 10 years. He has over 40 publications in journals, conference proceedings and books, including NAACL, CCL, SETE, CWMT, Journal of Chinese Information Processing, and Journal of Modern Foreign Languages. He is the Co-Chair of all International Workshop on Educational Technology for Language (and Translation) Learning (ETLTL 2018 & 2019, ETLL 2020, 2021,2022, 2023 & 2024) and the 1st and 2nd International Workshop on Discourse Processing (IWDP 2018 & 2020).

 

Workshop Co-Chairs

  • Xiaoxiao Chen, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, China
  • Xiaoxiao Chen is a professor in applied linguistics and the deputy dean of the School of English for International Business, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. She received her PhD from Wuhan University. Her research interests include Business English teaching with artificial intelligence, creative writing, teacher education in AI era. She has been teaching a number of specialized courses such as graduate courses, Sociolinguistics and Academic Writing, and undergraduate courses Advanced English and Comprehensive Business English. She has published more than 20 papers in academic journals such as Foreign Language Studies, Foreign Languages and Foreign Language Teaching, and one book of translation.

  • Menglian Liu, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, China
  • Menglian Liu is an associate professor in Educational Technology and the deputy director in Collaborative Innovation Center for Language Research & Service, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). She received her MA and PhD from South China Normal University. She once worked as a Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office in Guangdong Teachers College of Foreign Language and Arts. Her research interests include Educational Technology for Foreign Language Learning and Teaching, Educational Technology for Preschool Education, Technology Enhanced Instructional Design, Learning Technology and so on. She has been teaching Educational Technology for English Education, Educational Technology for Translation an Interpreting Education, Educational Technology for Preschool Education, General Psychology, Educational Research Method and College English to undergraduate and graduate students for more than 10 years. She has over 20 publications in journals, conference proceedings and books, including Chinese Translators Journal, Shanghai Journal of Translators, the Journal of Technology Enhanced Foreign Languages, the Journal of Modern Educational Technology, and Journal of Modern Distance Education. She designed and developed the teaching website for the 2007 Guangdong Quality Courses and the 2009 National Quality Course "French Interpretation". As a second participant. She joined in a research project "Reform and Practice of French Interpretation Courses Based on Internet and Multimedia Environment" as the 2nd participant. The project won the First Prize of the 6th Guangdong Provincial Teaching Achievement Award in 2010.
